Who is a Clinical Medical Assistant?
A Medical Assistant is a professional who works in a healthcare setting and works as a liaison between physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals and patients. They have an unique in the medical setting, as they are expected to perform both the patient care duties and administrative roles. While working on a day to day basis, Medical Assistants are expected to perform patient care duties, such as recording vital signs, interacting with patients, compiling patients’ medical histories and administering medications under direction of a supervising physician. They are also expected to perform certain administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, billing, and assisting patients in filling out insurance forms.
