Can Medical Assistants do Phone Triage?
A phone triage system helps clinicians to categorize and prioritize patient needs in a clinical setting. Medical Assistants are allowed to work on Phone Triage, depending on the geographic location and the laws that are in place. Medical Assistants are expected to do administrative work which might also involve answering phone calls. Most offices have a phone triage in place, with specific steps, guidelines and contact information for escalation. Medical Assistants might also be expected to do Phone Triage as a part of their duties. But this depends on the laws that govern the country/state where one is employed.
